I am an animation practitioner and Senior Lecturer for the BA (Hons) Animation course at Leeds Arts University, specialising in directing, visual storytelling and idea generation. With an additional degree in Acting, I have a strong background in theatre and an in-depth understanding of character performance, which I utilise in both my teaching of animation and my own creative practice. I enjoy experimenting with seemingly unfitting styles and focusing on characters that usually get overlooked.
As a freelance practitioner I work primarily with 2D animation, combining hand-made and digital techniques. My work has been shown internationally at film festivals such as Animafest Zagreb, New York Children?s Film Festival, Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival, Encounters Festival, Glasgow Short Film Festival or Anima Mundi. My short films are distributed in Europe by Little KMBO, and additionally used as teaching resources for the education charity Into Film and as moving image material at the new Royal Edinburgh Children?s Hospital. In the most recent years I have worked on a variety of projects, ranging from short films, through corporate studio work, to commissioned theatre projections and music videos.
I am currently working freelance in Bristol, UK. If you would like to work with me on a project, please get in touch. This is what I’ve been up to recently:
And here’s a link to an article I wrote for History Press Local on adapting a folk tale for animation.
